About this service

We do not pay publishers, and in Germany that is less a principle than the law working in your favour. Paid editorial content has to be labelled as advertising under the Medienstaatsvertrag and the state press acts; a publisher who takes your money and labels the piece correctly has sold you an ad, and a link inside a labelled ad is one Google asks to be marked as sponsored. So the paid route in this market either breaks the labelling rules or delivers exactly the link you did not want to buy. The route that works here is the older one: pitch the editor, and write something the readership needs. The Themenplan is the whole mechanism: German trade titles publish an editorial calendar for the following year inside their Mediadaten, usually each autumn, listing the themes for every issue. Print issues close four to eight weeks ahead. A pitch that lands in February proposing a piece for the June issue on a theme the editor already committed to in October gets read, and one proposing a general article on your area of expertise does not. We map your expert's actual knowledge onto the published calendars of the titles that matter in property, hospitality and furniture retail, and we pitch against dates. The pitch itself: Three sentences of angle. A five-line outline. Why this month rather than any other. Who signs it and what they run. That is the email. Acceptance runs near forty per cent with editors this desk has placed with before and closer to eight per cent cold, which is why the first quarter of any new client is slower than the second. Who writes it: Our editors draft, your named expert corrects and signs. The piece serves the publication's reader and contains no product: no feature list, no case study of your own client, no comparison table where you win. The link, when there is one, sits in the author line or a single reference in the body, and the editor decides. We do not negotiate link attributes and we will not promise you dofollow. If a byline in the trade press your buyers actually read is only worth paying for when the link passes equity, this is the wrong desk. What we refuse: Marketplaces and reseller networks with rate cards. Any site with a Gastbeitrag einreichen page and a price list. Sites without an Impressum naming a responsible editor. Sites whose only readership is other link buyers, which we check the boring way: is there a Mediadaten PDF, an audited circulation, a print edition or a newsletter with subscribers, an editor who answers the phone. We also refuse to place the same author in two competing titles in the same quarter, because trade editors read each other and it reads as syndication. What you get each cycle: The target list with the reasoning per title, the pitches as sent, the published pieces, and the rejections with what the editor said. Rejections are the useful part: an editor telling you the angle is three years old is information you cannot buy. Who should not buy this: Buyers who need a fixed number of placements per month at a fixed cost per link. Companies with no one who can hold a byline, because a piece signed by the marketing team will not be printed. Product launches that need coverage next week, which is press work and not this. And English-only organisations wanting German trade placement without a German-speaking author, since we can write the German but the editor's follow-up call will not be in English.
