Dofollow link
Also called Nofollow, rel=sponsored.
A link that passes ranking signals, as opposed to one marked so that search engines ignore it for ranking.
Search engines ask that paid links be marked `rel="sponsored"` or `rel="nofollow"`. A publisher who sells dofollow links is selling something search guidelines tell them not to sell, and both sides carry the risk of that.
This is the single most common mismatch in paid placements: the buyer assumed the link passes equity, the publisher marked it sponsored, and neither said so before the invoice. It costs nothing to ask and everything to assume.
For an advertiser buying traffic and awareness rather than rankings, the attribute is irrelevant — the link works identically for the reader either way.
How LinkBourse handles it
Link attribute is a field on the placement, so the answer is on the listing before a booking rather than in an email afterwards.
Terms it depends on
- Sponsored disclosure
- The label that tells a reader the placement was paid for — "Sponsored", "Paid partnership", "Ad".
- Retention period
- How long the publisher commits to keep a placement live after the paid window ends.
