Angle development and newsroom pitching into German trade and national business press, with followed and unfollowed coverage reported separately.
About this service
A story that works in German trade press draws links from eight to twenty root domains, roughly half of them inside the 72 hours after the embargo lifts and the rest over the following six to ten weeks as newsletters, aggregators and follow-up pieces pick it up. If nothing lands in the first week, it does not recover. We stop, write the post-mortem, and the next angle comes out of that document instead of a fresh brainstorm.
What we pitch:
Angles a fashion, beauty or DTC desk can run without asking your permission. A shift in returns behaviour. A pricing move the category has not noticed yet. A supply decision with a consequence attached. A decision that went badly and can be described honestly. The outlets we work most often are Textilwirtschaft, Absatzwirtschaft, W&V, Horizont, etailment, Internet World, Gruenderszene and OMR, and on the national side Handelsblatt, Wirtschaftswoche, manager magazin and the business desks at Spiegel and Sueddeutsche. English-language work runs into Business of Fashion, Retail Dive, Modern Retail, Glossy and the UK trades.
How a list is built:
By reading, not by exporting. We read ninety days of bylines in the target vertical and build from journalists who have covered the adjacent story recently. Every pitch names their last relevant piece and says why this is the follow-up. If we cannot write that sentence honestly, the name comes off the list. Databases such as Muck Rack and Roxhill are for contact details and deadlines, never for targeting.
What we count as a link:
Followed and unfollowed are reported separately and never summed. Several German nationals strip or nofollow external links at the CMS level; the coverage is still worth having and we still pitch them, but it does not go in the link column. Syndicated copies across one publisher group count once. We report linking root domains against the specific page the campaign was built to support, and we report the ones that come down later, with dates.
Not included:
No wire distribution. A release on a portal produces syndicated duplicates no editor ever read, and we will not spend your budget there. No paid placements, no media partnerships with a rate card, no link inserts. We do not write your product pages, run your social channels, or handle the response if a story turns against you.
Who should not buy this:
Brands where nothing has happened. This needs a fact: an internal number you will let us publish, a decision with a date on it, an operational change. If the honest brief is that you would like some coverage, the answer is the data study work, where the fact gets built first. Also wrong: anyone who needs four stakeholders to sign off inside a day. Reactive pitching dies in approval loops and we would rather decline than bill you for pitches sent three days late.
Language and markets:
We pitch in German and English. Austrian and Swiss trade press goes on the list where the angle carries, which it usually does for pricing and supply stories and usually does not for anything tied to German retail law.
Working method:
One angle, tested against three journalists before the full list goes out. If all three pass, we rewrite rather than send. You approve the fact, not the sentence. The campaign closes with a written record of who was pitched, who replied and what they declined, and that document is why the second campaign costs less to run than the first.
