Story-led outreach to named journalists in fashion, beauty and DTC, with the pitch, the data note and every reply handed back to you.

About this service

A quarter of story-led press outreach for a direct-to-consumer brand usually ends with six to fourteen editorial links, and two stories will account for most of them. That distribution is the work. We are not raising a hit rate across forty pitches. We are looking for the two angles a fashion or beauty desk will actually run, and then placing them where the coverage has readers. What we pitch: Three story families earn links for ecommerce brands. Proprietary trading signal: sell-through across a shade range when a trend breaks, size-curve demand by region, return rates by category, the week a search term turned into orders. The founder or the in-house technical person as a named source on a piece a desk has already commissioned. And the calendar story, built eight to twelve weeks ahead of resale season, the January skincare cycle, or awards-season dressing. We produce the pitch, a one-page data note the journalist can check, and an on-record quote cleared by you. We do not draft the article, and we never send an editor finished copy to run under their byline. Who gets pitched: Named journalists, not outlets. The file is built per campaign from Muck Rack and our own records: who covered the category in the last ninety days, what they filed, which desk commissions freelance, and who has moved. A beauty campaign is typically forty to sixty names across national lifestyle, trade titles such as WWD, Glossy and Business of Fashion, and the newsletters buyers read on Monday morning. Each name gets a different first line. Nothing goes out as a merge field. What we refuse: We do not buy placements, and we will not work alongside an agency that does. No paid link inserts, no sponsored posts styled as editorial, no reciprocal arrangements, no site whose media kit lists a rate for a do-follow mention. If a publication asks for money after showing interest, we tell you and we walk. Product gifting is fine as gifting; it is not a trade for coverage, and we will not imply to a journalist that it is. How a quarter runs: Weeks one and two are angle development and the data pull, with your team. Week three is a single embargoed round to the ten or twelve names with the strongest fit. Weeks four to ten are rolling outreach, reactive commentary filed the same day category news breaks, and follow-ups on the desks that asked to see more. The last fortnight is the pickup wave, where regional and international titles rewrite the national story, and where a fair share of the links appear. What lands on your side: Every pitch we sent, every reply, the placement list with live URLs and publication dates, and the coverage that ran without a link so your team can decide whether to chase it. We also flag pieces that used your data without attribution, which happens more often than brands expect. Who this is not for: A brand with no first-party data it can share, nobody willing to go on record, and nothing shipping in the next two quarters has no story, and press outreach will not manufacture one. If your legal review takes three weeks, reactive commentary is closed to you and we would run a different program. And if you are measuring this in links per month against an invoice, you will be happier with a vendor who sells that unit. We cannot promise a count of placements in advance, because the desks decide, not us.
