Service account architecture, advertising law creative review before design, and Moments buys with the comment thread treated as the asset.
About this service
Tencent will not open Moments inventory against a German VAT number alone. Moments is bought through Tencent Ads by an advertiser holding a Chinese business licence, or through an overseas advertiser account opened by a licensed agency, and a regional Moments campaign carries a minimum booking in five figures of RMB. A four thousand euro trial of Moments does not exist. If the first question is how cheaply this can be tested, the honest answer is that WeChat is not the platform to test cheaply, and Xiaohongshu probably is. Our fee excludes media in every case, and Tencent is paid from an account you own.
The architecture comes before the buy:
Service account rather than subscription account for any brand selling something. It sends four times a month instead of daily, but it sits in the chat list rather than the subscription folder, it binds WeChat Pay, and it carries the Mini Program. We design the menu, the auto reply logic and the tagging on follow, then connect WeCom so a real person, with a name and a face, handles the enquiry that arrives at nine at night. A follower with no route to a human is a number, not a customer.
The advertising law decides the creative, so we read it first:
Article 9 of the PRC Advertising Law removes the superlative from German marketing copy: no national level, no highest, no best, and translations of German comparative claims trip it constantly. Article 20 forbids advertising breast milk substitutes for infants under six months in mass media, so a formula brand advertises stage three, the parent brand, or the account itself, and never stage one, whatever the German product line does. Cosmetics require NMPA filing or registration before they may be advertised at all, filing for general use and registration for special use. We run creative review against these constraints before anything goes to design, because Tencent's own review will reject afterwards and you will have paid for artwork twice.
What we do with Moments:
The comment thread is the asset. A Moments advert shows a viewer which of their own contacts interacted with it, so the first forty eight hours of genuine comments from your staff, your distributors and your existing customers change the buy's performance more than the film does. We plan that seeding as part of the media plan, with real accounts and no purchased engagement. Outer card written for muted autoplay, six to fifteen seconds of video, and an inner page that is a Mini Program where the product is purchasable rather than an H5 page that dead ends in a QR code.
Official Account ads, the ones inside articles and at the bottom of posts, are cheaper and duller, and they are where we build the retargeting pool between Moments flights so the second flight does not start cold.
Not included:
Long term editorial for the Official Account. Four sends a month written in Hamburg will read like they were written in Hamburg. We build the first quarter's editorial framework and then help you hire the person in China who should own it. No daigou or grey channel activation. No machine translation, and we will not adapt copy a translation agency produced without rewriting it. Mini Program development is scoped with your development partner; we specify it, we do not build it.
Not for you if:
You have no legal import route. Food needs customs and CIQ registration, cosmetics need their NMPA status settled, and no media plan substitutes for either. Nobody at your company can answer a Chinese language enquiry within a working day. Your plan is to run Moments once and judge it, which is a cost per acquisition question answered by a platform where nobody is shopping at the moment they see you.
We work in German and English with you, and in Mandarin with the platform and the partner studio.
