Seznam Sklik Search Advertising for the Czech Market
Search Advertising (PPC / SEM) · Seznam Sklik
Sklik search built on enumerated Czech case forms and Act No. 40/1995 copy rules, read at four and twelve weeks rather than every Monday.
About this service
StatCounter has put Seznam under fifteen percent of Czech search every year since 2021. Seznam's own NetMonitor figures run higher because they count the portal rather than the search box, and the gap between those two numbers is the most common reason Czech budgets are set wrong: too high in the first quarter, then cut too far in the second. I plan on the lower figure and buy the query volume that is genuinely there.
Czech is a declined language and Sklik reads it literally:
A noun appears in seven cases. Users type it with or without diacritics depending on the keyboard in front of them. Czech technical vocabulary code-switches into English mid-phrase, so the domestic word and the English word sit inside one query set and neither can be dropped. Sklik's broad match does not stem across these forms the way you are used to. Coverage is therefore enumerated rather than generated: the case forms carrying commercial intent, the diacritic-stripped variants, the English term the audience genuinely uses, and negatives for the case forms that mean something else entirely.
Medicines, devices and Act No. 40/1995:
Czech law forbids advertising prescription medicines to the public, requires the statutory warning on over-the-counter copy, and SÚKL supervises it. Sklik reviewers catch the obvious breaches and miss others, which is worse, because the liability stays with you either way. If your product is prescription-only my answer is that this channel is brand and professional-audience work at best, and you will hear it before an invoice exists rather than after a build.
What runs alongside search:
A Firmy.cz presence, because Czech buyers check whether a real Czech company stands behind a product before they buy from it. Zboží.cz product ads where a feed is worth running: I specify the fields, your developers build it. Retargeting only once base search volume justifies a second layer, which at Czech scale is less often than agencies suggest.
Cadence, slow on purpose:
A Sklik account at real Czech volume does not produce a meaningful weekly number. Manual CPC holds until a campaign has generated enough conversions in a month for automatic bidding to have something to fit, and at this account size that has meant around thirty. Readings at week four and week twelve, each written, each carrying the decision it supports. Between them I mine search terms and add negatives, and I do not send a report about it.
Not included:
Google Ads. Slovak-market work, which Sklik reaches thinly and which deserves its own answer rather than a checkbox on this one. Feed engineering, Czech landing page copy, and anything on Seznam's display network beyond retargeting.
Who this is not for:
Companies without a Czech-language landing page and Czech payment methods. Czech buyers leave at the currency selector, not at the ad, and no bid fixes that. International brands who want Sklik because the clicks look cheap: they are cheaper because the volume is smaller, and this account will not carry a target that Google set. And any team that needs a weekly performance call, because the account will not have produced a week's worth of evidence and I will not fill half an hour describing movement that is noise.
What you are buying:
A native operator's judgement about which of the seven forms of your keyword is the one people type when they intend to buy, and the discipline to leave the account alone long enough for the answer to appear.
