We vet newsletter inventory on click distribution and consent provenance, then buy on verified clicks with a make-good, never CPM against opens.

About this service

A newsletter placement is worth what its click distribution says it is worth, not what its subscriber count says. Before we recommend a buy we ask the publisher for unique clicks on their last six sends, deduplicated, with bot clicks separated out. Around a third of publishers can produce that file. Those are the ones we buy from, and that single request removes more bad inventory than any amount of audience-fit reasoning. What we ask a publisher for: Unique clicks per send for the last six sends, not the average click rate, because an average hides the two sends that carried the quarter. The sending domain, so we can check the DMARC policy and whether they send from a subdomain or from the root. How the list grew in the past twelve months, split by form, content upgrade, co-registration, giveaway and paid acquisition. Their Google Postmaster Tools complaint rate. And whether they expect to send under our client's domain, a solo send, which we decline in every category we work in. How we buy: A flat fee against a verified click floor, with the make-good written into the insertion order as a re-run rather than a credit. We do not buy CPM priced against opens. Apple Mail Privacy Protection has pre-fetched images since September 2021, and an open rate from a list with a large Apple share is not a measurement of anything. Placement position is named in the IO, primary slot above the first fold or the classified block at the end, and the gap between them is usually a factor of four on clicks. One creative per publisher. We do not run identical copy across a slate, because then no result can be read. How we measure: Each placement gets its own landing page and its own server-side event, matched back on email capture. On pharma and medtech pages there is no third-party tag of any kind: a page describing a condition, loaded by an identifiable visitor, with an ad network pixel on it, is special category data leaving the building, and no media plan is worth that. We report verified click to qualified action at fourteen and sixty days, and we tell you when a placement worked because of the newsletter and when it worked because you happened to launch the same week. What we will not place: Promotion of a prescription-only medicine to the public. Article 88 of Directive 2001/83/EC prohibits it across the EU, and the fact that a US-headquartered client runs the same creative at home is not a route around it. Insurance or credit copy carrying a mandatory warning statement, where the publisher will not run the warning at body-text size inside the placement itself. Pet supplement copy implying treatment of a diagnosed condition, which moves the product from the feed regime into the veterinary medicine regime. Lists grown on sweepstakes or co-registration, whatever the CPM. Who should not hire us for this: A brand placing under about forty thousand euro a quarter. The vetting costs more than it saves at that level and a good junior media buyer will serve you better. A team that wants a ranked list of fifty newsletters in a category; that list is available free and it is not the hard part. And any client whose legal or medical review happens after the IO is signed, because in regulated categories the review decides what can be bought, not the other way round.

What the seller needs from you

  1. 1What is being advertised, and is it prescription-only, over-the-counter, a medical device, a regulated financial product, a feed product or none of these?
  2. 2Your current sponsorship slate: publisher, what you paid, what you measured, and over what window.
  3. 3Who signs off advertising copy, and how long does their review take end to end?
  4. 4Can we put a landing page on your domain, or must traffic go to an existing page?
  5. 5Which markets is the campaign running in this quarter?

Asked at checkout. Delivery time starts once you answer, not when you pay.
