TikTok app campaigns run on hook-rate tests and creator content, starting with a category eligibility check before any scope is written.

About this service

The first question on any TikTok app engagement is whether your category is allowed to run at all, and for licensed real money operators the answer across most markets is no. That gets checked in the first call, before scope, because a plan assuming eligibility in eight markets and receiving it in two is worse than no plan. Where the category is clear, TikTok's own minimums shape the rest: fifty a day at campaign level, twenty at ad group level, and an app campaign that cannot commit somewhere near eight thousand a month in one market will not accumulate enough signal in a fortnight to be read honestly. The account: Few ad groups, wide targeting, optimisation set to an in-app event rather than install wherever weekly volume allows it. Interest and behaviour segments have cost more than they returned on app installs in every account I have tested them in; on this platform the creative does the targeting and the audience settings mostly obstruct the model. Smart+ gets used where volume can feed it and ignored where it would swallow the only signal available. Creative, and what a test actually is: Three concepts, three openings each, every cell given twenty-five thousand impressions before anybody is allowed an opinion. Judgement runs in order: two-second view rate, then completion, then installs-to-event. A hook that loses at two seconds cannot be rescued downstream and does not earn a second variant. Winners get one further round of openings and are then left alone until the view rate decays. I brief and direct this work with your creators or your production partner. I do not sell a monthly quota of videos, because a quota guarantees output and guarantees nothing else. Creator content and usage rights: Content posted from a creator's own handle and boosted with a spark code beats studio-made ads on installs often enough that I default to it. Rights need arranging for sixty days minimum, or you lose your best performing ad mid-flight. That is a contract problem rather than a media one, and it is the failure I see most often on otherwise competent accounts. Measurement: Events arrive through the TikTok SDK or your MMP, never both counting the same event into bidding. iOS runs as a dedicated SKAN campaign with the value schema agreed before launch, not retrofitted after the first disappointing week. TikTok's in-platform attribution is generous by design; the number of record is your MMP cohort and reports are written against it even when that is the less flattering figure. I do not: Take a creative refresh retainer. Run hashtag activations or in-feed reach campaigns, which are a different discipline and there are people better at them than me. Copy your Meta structure across, which is the most common thing done to a TikTok account and the most reliably wrong. Or publish TikTok-attributed installs without the MMP number printed beside them. Wrong fit: Business software with a desktop-first funnel, field service and industrial tools, and professional services sold on referral. The inventory exists, the intent does not, and I would rather say that than take the budget and explain it in month three. Apps with no video assets and no budget to produce any. And any buyer who wants daily bid changes; this channel punishes that more sharply than the others and I will not pretend otherwise to keep an account. Engagements start with an eligibility and tracking review. If the answer at the end of it is that TikTok is wrong for this app, you get that in writing and pay for the review only.
