Host-Read Podcast Placements in German-Language Shows

A host-read midroll on a German-language show delivering 8,000 to 40,000 downloads per episode prices between EUR 25 and EUR 60 CPM, and we do not book one until somebody here has listened to three full episodes of that show, including the last read the host recorded for another advertiser. That listen decides the placement more often than the download figure does. A host who reads a client script verbatim in a flat voice is worth less than their audience number suggests, and we either price that in or walk. What the unit actually is: The unit is one episode and the host's own sentences. We buy baked-in reads, cut into the master file, because a dynamically inserted read disappears from the archive the day the flight ends and the back catalogue stops working for you. Plenty of German inventory is now sold only through insertion on Podigee, Julep, ART19 or Megaphone. When that is the case we say so in the plan and value the archive at zero rather than pretending otherwise. How the read is built: The host receives a briefing, never a script. One claim we are prepared to defend in writing, one thing the product does not do, the pronunciation of the brand, the URL. The host writes the read, we read it back, and the only changes we ask for are factual. We do not give notes on tone. Werbekennzeichnung is spoken in German at the front of the read, before the claim, not left to the show notes; Landesmedienanstalten guidance treats a label nobody can hear as no label, and under UWG the exposure lands on the advertiser as much as on the host. Counting: Downloads are read against IAB Podcast Measurement Technical Guidelines v2.1 from the show's own hosting dashboard, captured 30 days after publication with the episode date visible. Next to that sits a campaign URL on your domain, not a shortener the host controls, and one free-text field at checkout or on the demo form asking where the person heard of you. Unaided recall in that box has been steadier for us than any promo code, and codes distort the read besides. We reconcile both sources before anyone invoices. Frequency: A single read does not work and we will not sell you one. Three placements minimum with the same host across six to eight weeks: the first is recognition, the third is the one that gets typed into a browser. If the budget covers one read on a large show or three on a smaller one, we book the smaller one three times and tell you why in the plan. Not included: No programmatic or network audio. No pre-roll-only flights. No production of a branded podcast of your own. No performance structures where the host's fee moves with sales, which corrupts the read and which the hosts we book decline anyway. We do not place ads on shows we have not heard, including shows you send us with a signed rate card attached. Who should not hire us for this: Anyone who needs a fixed cost per acquisition. Products with a decision cycle shorter than a week, where recall has no time to do anything. Buyers who want a specific show because a competitor appears on it, because more often than not that competitor was inserted programmatically and never bought the host at all. And any financial or token product aimed at German retail listeners that wants the risk language shortened for flow. We will not shorten it. Where we are useful: Weiterbildung and university-adjacent education brands, energy retailers and heat-pump and PV businesses selling into German households, and technology companies with a genuine German-speaking buyer.
