Twitch Sponsorship and Inventory Buying for Regulated Brands
Social Media Advertising · Twitch Ads and stream sponsorships
Streamer deals negotiated on contract terms rather than follower counts, plus Twitch inventory, with French influencer-law disclosure handled.
About this service
Twitch has prohibited promotion of unlicensed slots, roulette and dice sites since October 2022, while licensed sportsbook, poker, fantasy and lottery products remain permitted. For an igaming brand that single line settles whether there is a Twitch plan at all, and it is where every one of our gambling engagements begins. For food, beverage and automotive brands the constraint is different but equally decisive: this audience recognises a script read under duress within one sentence.
Two different buys:
Sponsoring a streamer and buying Twitch inventory are separate businesses with separate risks, and mixing their budgets hides which one worked. We run them as distinct lines with distinct reads, and we will happily do only one.
Direct sponsorship:
Selection is on average concurrent viewers and audience composition, never on follower count or peak CCV, both of which are inflated by a single good night months ago. In France, sponsored stream rates cluster around fifteen to forty euros per hour per thousand average concurrents, and the spread inside that band is negotiating position rather than audience quality. Knowing that is most of the value we add before a contract exists.
The contract is where the money is protected. We negotiate minimum broadcast hours, category exclusivity and its duration, clip and VOD usage rights for your own channels, a make-good clause for a missed or shortened stream, whether the read is scripted or briefed, and what happens if the streamer's own conduct becomes a problem during the term. Agencies routinely skip the make-good clause. It is the one that pays for itself.
Inventory through Amazon DSP:
Twitch's own video and display inventory is bought programmatically, with frequency and content adjacency controlled deliberately rather than left to the default. We use it for coverage around a sponsorship flight rather than as a standalone performance line, and we say so rather than reporting it as one.
French disclosure law:
The law of 9 June 2023 on commercial influence requires clear labelling of paid promotion and restricts how gambling and certain other categories may be promoted, including to audiences that are not reliably adult. We write the disclosure requirement into the contract, specify it on screen and in the spoken read, and verify it during the broadcast rather than trusting a screenshot afterwards. Where a streamer's audience cannot be shown to be adult, we do not place a gambling sponsorship there regardless of how well it would perform.
Measurement:
Unique codes per streamer, a dedicated landing path, and a branded search and direct-session baseline across the broadcast window. We agree the read date in advance and hold to it, because a sponsorship result reviewed six weeks later is being judged against noise from four other campaigns.
We turn down:
Unlicensed operators, and licensed operators wanting placement in markets their licence does not cover. Deals priced off follower counts. Briefs asking for the largest available streamer, which is a request for a screenshot rather than a result. Sponsorships without a make-good clause, because we would be arranging for you to accept the entire delivery risk.
Not included:
Production of overlays, alerts and branded assets, which we brief and review. Talent management, ongoing streamer relationship management outside the flight, and esports team or tournament sponsorship, which is a different market with different rate structures and different lawyers.
How it runs:
One partner negotiates personally, in French or English, and attends the first broadcast live. Sponsorship fees are paid by you to the streamer or their agency directly. You see the shortlist we rejected and why, which is usually the more useful document.
