Getting an integration onto the marketplace team's quarterly merchandising calendar, and writing a listing page that survives the comparison grid.

About this service

Most of the traffic a marketplace listing receives is not marketplace search. It is the collections, the seasonal rails, the partner newsletter and the staff picks that the marketplace's own team programmes, and those are planned a quarter ahead by one partner manager holding forty other apps in their head. A pitch for a seasonal collection has to be in their hands six to eight weeks before it ships. Everything here is arranged around that calendar. The listing page: The first screenshot does most of the persuading, and it should show the product doing the job inside the host product, not a marketing composition. The title carries the noun a buyer types inside that marketplace, which is rarely the noun your product team uses. The opening two lines of the description are what appears on the card in a category grid; they get written last, once everything else exists, and they are written for someone comparing eleven tiles at once. Support hours, the name of the person behind support, and an honest setup time belong on the page — on Atlassian and Salesforce those lines are read closely by buyers who have procurement behind them. Status and certification: Built for Shopify, Cloud Fortified on Atlassian, an AppExchange security review, co-sell ready on Microsoft. These are gates on the merchandising you actually want, and each is engineering work rather than marketing work. Part of this engagement is telling you plainly which gate you are three months from clearing and which you are a year from, so nobody pitches a partner manager for a slot the product cannot hold. Reviews: Asked for by name, from customers who have already told you the thing worked, in the fortnight after a support win, by email from someone they recognise. Never incentivised: Shopify, G2 and Capterra each treat that as a policy breach, and G2 will strip the reviews and sometimes the profile with them. Recency matters more than the total, because the rails are programmed off what moved lately. The launch outside the marketplace: For restaurant and hospitality software in Italy that means the trade titles and the integrator community that installs point-of-sale systems for a living. For legal technology it means the legal trade press and the practice-management user groups. The point of that coverage is not its reach. It is that a partner manager checks whether anyone outside the marketplace is talking about you before handing over a slot. What I refuse: Bought reviews, review-exchange rings, and asking staff or friends to post. Keyword-stuffed listing copy, which the marketplaces now demote and which reads as desperate to the buyer anyway. Any promise that a badge or a feature slot is obtainable — those are the platform's decisions, and anyone selling certainty about them is selling something else. Paid placements written to read as editorial in trade titles. Not for you if: The integration is in closed beta or breaks against the host's last two releases; a listing that generates support load you cannot answer costs more than it earns. Nobody on your side will own the partner relationship after I leave — this work creates a relationship, and it decays within about two quarters unattended. Or you need installs this month, because the merchandising calendar does not move for anyone, including me. Languages: the platform teams work in English. The trade press and the integrator community around you in Italy do not, and that half is written in Italian.

What the seller needs from you

  1. 1Which marketplace is primary, and what is your listing URL and current install count?
  2. 2Which certification or status criteria are you currently failing, in the platform's own words?
  3. 3Do you have a named contact at the marketplace's partner team, and when did you last speak?
  4. 4Who answers support tickets, and what is your real response time this month?
  5. 5Which trade titles or user communities do your existing customers actually read?

Asked at checkout. Delivery time starts once you answer, not when you pay.
