Dedicated Review Videos on Japanese YouTube Channels

We commission dedicated reviews on one condition written into every contract: the creator keeps the verdict and is paid in full on delivery regardless of what that verdict is. A review an audience believes is the only kind worth buying, and the way a Japanese audience decides whether to believe one is by remembering whether that creator has ever said no on camera. Around one review in five that we commission comes back with a material criticism inside the first three minutes. Those publish too. The hands-on window: Skincare, twenty-eight days minimum. Color cosmetics, fourteen. A game, code in hand at least seven days before the embargo lifts, and we do not buy day-one reviews of a build the publisher already knows is unfinished. Industrial equipment stays in the creator's workshop for a full production run, which on a machining channel runs two to six weeks. A review filmed within forty-eight hours of unboxing is an unboxing, and it should be priced and briefed as one. Getting the product legally into a creator's hands: This kills more launches than the creative ever does. A cosmetic cannot be handed to a Japanese creator unless an importer of record holds a manufacture-and-sale licence, with Japanese labelling to match. A wireless device without the giteki mark cannot lawfully be operated in Japan, so the review cannot happen at all. Mains-powered devices need PSE. We check all three before contracting, and when the answer is no we tell you when to come back rather than shipping the unit and hoping. Fact review, not script review: One forty-eight hour pass on the rough cut, restricted to statements of fact: spec figures, price, availability date, legal claims. Errors of fact are corrected. Notes about tone, structure, emphasis or conclusion are not passed to the creator, and we tell you this before you sign so it is not discovered at rough cut with a launch date approaching. Rights and what publishes: The video lives on the creator's channel with disclosure at the front. Where you want the review for your own paid media or a product page, that is a separate line with a named medium and a term, agreed before filming. There is no takedown right in our contracts and we do not sell one, because a review that can be withdrawn is an advertisement the audience has not been told about. What is not included: No script. No approval of the conclusion. No coordinated messaging across reviewers, which is visible to any audience that watches two of them. No paid amplification management. No guarantee about sentiment, from us or from anyone honest. Who this is not for: Brands that need to see a script before committing. Brands whose product is not finished — a specialist reviewer will find the unfinished part in the first hour and will say so. Brands in a category where an honest verdict from a channel that knows the category would be damaging: a dedicated review magnifies whatever is already true, in both directions, and that is the entire reason it works.
