Measures whether LinkedIn company, industry and function signals are readable in your Microsoft account before anything gets built on them.

About this service

What this actually is: Microsoft is the only search platform where the bid can change because of who is typing. Company, industry and job function come from LinkedIn, and those three are the whole set. On search campaigns it behaves as a bid and exclusion layer rather than a filter, the query still has to be right, and only a portion of your traffic carries the signal at all. So the first deliverable is a measured match rate for your own account, not a targeting plan built on the assumption that it is high. Where it earns its place: Head terms where a consumer and a buyer type identical words. A hospitality procurement manager searching fournisseur boissons looks exactly like a household until the profile layer separates them. A veterinary group sourcing diets, a grooming franchise buying in volume, a media buyer looking for a rate card and a reader looking for the same publication all arrive on the same keyword. Consumer intent wins those auctions on volume and buries the account's real economics inside a blended cost per acquisition. This layer is how you pay differently for the same words. The judgement that matters: Under Maximise Conversions or a target CPA, a bid modifier stops behaving like a lever. Automated bidding is already pricing that auction with more signal than a percentage adjustment carries, so the honest options are a separate campaign with its own target and its own budget, or an exclusion. Most accounts I see have a stack of profile modifiers sitting under automated bidding doing nothing while everyone believes the targeting is live. I would rather split three campaigns and defend the added management than leave a modifier in place that is decorative. What it will not do, and this is the important paragraph: Microsoft does not tell you which company converted. You get performance by segment, not an account list, and no amount of configuration produces one. If sales expect a report naming the accounts that engaged, this is the wrong platform and LinkedIn Ads is the right one. I turn down this engagement roughly as often as I take it for that reason alone, and it is better established now than in month two. Volume thresholds: A modifier or an exclusion needs enough conversions behind it to mean anything. I do not move a bid on a segment with fewer than about fifty conversions, and where the account cannot produce that within a quarter I say the layer is not readable and recommend against building it. Market availability is also finite; France, the United Kingdom and the United States are covered, and I confirm your markets before quoting rather than after. Scope: Profile lists built across company, industry and function, applied to search and to audience campaigns where target-and-bid is available. Exclusions for the segments that are structurally wrong for you, which is often the more valuable half. A measured read after eight weeks: match rate, cost per acquisition by segment, and a recommendation on which segments deserve their own campaign. Not included: LinkedIn Ads. Account-based marketing programmes. CRM work, lead routing and sales enablement. Content and gated assets. Any claim about pipeline, which depends on what your sales team does with what arrives. Who this is not for: Consumer-only accounts, where this adds cost and no information. Accounts whose Microsoft search volume is too small to read a segment. And any team that wants firmographic targeting because it sounds precise rather than because a specific buyer is currently being outbid by consumers on a keyword you can name.
