About this service

Most teams buy Channable, DataFeedWatch or Feedonomics to compensate for a source of truth that is wrong, and two years later they are maintaining a rule stack that encodes business logic nobody can find or explain. The test I apply is plain: if a transformation would be true on every channel, it belongs upstream in the PIM or the commerce platform. What remains is genuinely channel-shaped, and in most catalogs that is a set of rules short enough to read out loud in a meeting. Choosing between them, honestly: Channable earns its place when you also want its marketplace and advertising modules and your team will work inside its rule ordering, which is unforgiving when rules are written in the wrong sequence. DataFeedWatch suits teams making many small transformations who want lookup tables and internal fields they control themselves, at a lower running cost. Feedonomics is a managed service wearing a platform's clothes: the right answer when you want a vendor to own change requests, the wrong answer when you want your own people to own the rules. I take no referral fee, revenue share or affiliate commission from any of the three, and that clause is in the contract. If the honest recommendation is that your platform's native feed plus one supplemental file is enough, you will get that recommendation and a smaller invoice. How I build: The source export comes first, before any tool is opened, because the export tells you whether this is a tooling problem or a merchandising one. Then a field map from source to each channel's required and optional attributes, written down and agreed with the person who owns the data. Then rules, built in the smallest number that produces the required output, each named for the business reason it exists rather than for what it does mechanically. A staging feed and a diff against the current live file before anything is pointed at a live channel, because a rule change is a deploy and deserves the same care as one. Governance, which is the part that keeps working after I leave: The rule set exported and kept in version control beside a change log naming who changed what and why. A named owner for category mapping, since channel taxonomies move and an unowned mapping table rots within a year. Alerting on item counts as well as errors: a file that publishes cleanly with a third of the catalog missing is the failure mode that goes unnoticed for weeks and shows up as a soft revenue decline nobody can explain. Not included: Tool licence costs, which you buy directly from the vendor. Merchant Center disapproval work and marketplace onboarding, which are separate engagements. PIM implementation: I will specify the fields your PIM must hold and where each should come from, but I do not configure Akeneo or its equivalents. Ongoing rule maintenance after handover, unless you want that as a retainer. Who this is not for: Teams looking for someone to endorse a tool their vendor has already sold them. Catalogs where the real problem is that three departments disagree about what a product is called, since a feed tool will let each of them have their way and you will find out in a marketplace suspension. Anyone who reads rule count as a measure of value delivered: I have replaced two hundred rules with eleven upstream field corrections, and that was the better piece of work by a distance. What handover looks like: A working configuration, a written map from every rule to the business reason behind it, and two recorded working sessions with the person who will maintain it after I am gone.
